A teenage girl has suffered "serious leg injuries" after being dragged under a school bus in Carlisle.

Cumbria Police said the 14-year-old's bag apparently got caught on the bus door as she was exiting on Thursday afternoon.

It drove off and dragged her under the front wheel, they said.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened on London Road, at the junction of Chertsey Mount, between 4.10pm and 4.15pm.

They also want to hear from motorists who may have dashcam footage of what happened.
