EXCLUSIVE: No More Singles for Manic Street Preachers

Nicky from the band has told Xfm they don't want to "bother the charts" anymore....
As the band prepare to release their best of - National Treasures - at the end of this month (which features a whopping 38 songs) bassist Nicky Wire has told Xfm that fans shouldn't expect any more singles.
"I think for a certain incarnation of the band it is a sort of end. I dunno if we'll be releasing singles again. The way everything in the music industry has changed, for an old guitar band like us to be bothering the charts seems somehow quaint."
However Mr Wire says the Manic Street Preachers are not splitting.
"It's definitely not the end of the band, we're still in love with each other and the notion of one final re-invention. We're trying to think of a final third way," he explained.
National Treasures is out October 31 and Nicky reckons it is a great way for them to acknowledge all they've achieved.
"Looking back at these 38 songs and the memories they evoke and the idea that you could, with a bit of sedition, get number one singles about the Spanish civil war and working class culture and things like that."
The band are expected to take a bit of a break after the albums release but what would Nicky Wire like to be doing? Being a musical diplomat of course!
Nicky told us that if he could be in any other band he'd like to moonlight in The Horrors - but could do good work elsewhere.
"[I'd like to be in] a reformed Libertines, just to hang around them and be a voyeur and be a peacemaker. Maybe try to reform Guns n' Roses. Duff played on our album so maybe I could return the favour."
"I am a peacemaker believe it or not. My reputation belies me."
