The Long Blondes

Art-rockers The Long Blondes deliver a debut session of concise pulse-raising punk rock. Listen to it right here.
The Long Blondes 'Xfm Session' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
Perhaps hailing from Sheffield doesn’t have the same kudos when compared to other parts of the country. With bands like The Zutons, The Futureheads and Maximo Park leading the northern invasion over the airwaves, the focus is now on a city whose biggest exports so far have been 'Full Monty' and Sean Bean.
The Long Blondes want to change that, recently quoted as saying “We do not listen to The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors or Bob Dylan. We chose an instrument each and learnt to play it.” Instead they've produced a unique sound amongst the raft of art-rockers that share similar qualities to that of early-era Roxy Music.
‘Approrication’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband] opens the session with a dance-floor friendly vibe and Debbie Harry-like vocal. The sweetly packaged bite of ‘Giddy Stratosphere’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband] continues things before launching into the pulsating ‘Peterborough’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband] (hardly the most glamorous of places to name-check, unless you come from Leeds). The session’s curtain closer ‘Lust In The Movies’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband] brings things to a suitably excitable conclusion.
