Doherty Attempts To Block Documentary

Babyshambles frontman and tabloid punchbag Pete Doherty is attempting to block a forthcoming documentary which features him smoking heroin made by director Max Carlish.
The Babyshambles frontman was filmed by director Max Carlish smoking heroin while still a member of The Libertines. Stills of the footage were (famously) sold to the Sunday tabloids leading to Doherty’s arrest following an altercation with the director.
Now the singer is reported to have insisted the controversial footage is owned by his management company and will be seeking an injunction to prevent the hour-long documentary being aired by Channel 4 in May.
"We are confident that the broadcast will go ahead,” Channel 4 has commented, although there is currently no set date for it's screening.
"A friend of mine saw the footage of him taking heroin and thought I could sell them,” Carlish commented. “Before I knew it I was in the middle of a bidding war. I was desperate for money and by this point I had convinced myself I would never see Pete again, would never be able to complete my film."
As previously reported, the sale of the shots culminated with Doherty being arrested on charges of blackmail and robbery after assaulting filmmaker Carlish.
In other less blood-suckingly exploitative news, Pete Doherty will head a bill of musicians taking part in a special Love Music Hate Racism this weekend (May 1). Also set to appear at the gig are Estelle, Terri Walker, MC Lady Sovereign, Roll Depp and Wiley.
The gig takes place in Trafalgar Square from 2pm, as the May Day March (beginning at midday at Clerkenwell Green) arrive in the square. Speakers on the day include Tony Benn, Ken Livingstone and members of the Muslim Council of Britain.
Babyshambles have also announced they will be joining the line-up of the Wireless Festival playing the Main Stage on Thursday June 30. Wireless 2005 will take place on June 24, 25, 29 and 30 at Hyde Park, London.
