Some Might Sign: Oasis In Bidding War

Noel and Liam Gallagher are reportedly set to make a fortune as rival record companies start a bidding war anticipating the end of Oasis’ contract with Sony.

Oasis’ current deal with Sony expires this summer and, eager to sign the indie giants, rival record companies have reportedly begun to place offers on the table.

Both EMI and V2 are rumoured to have offered the group three album deals worth over £15 million, while Sony are yet to rule out an attempt to trump their rivals and resign the group.

An industry source told The Sun: "Various record labels have been waiting patiently for the contract to end. Now it's a question of who puts the most money down on the table. Everybody wants Liam and Noel. They are still an act who can sell millions of records."

Noel has previously revealed in a recent interview that the group would be looking elsewhere, saying "We've written 66 songs between the four of us...but we didn't want to give that much to Sony as its our last album with them, so fuck 'em."

In other news, Oasis have allowed one of their best-loved tracks to be used in popular American teen drama The O.C.  The show will feature the track ‘Champagne Supernova’ in its upcoming season finale, but not the version originally recorded by Oasis. The track has been re-recorded by American indie rockers Matt Pond PA. Its hoped that the inclusion of the track may rekindle a spark of interest in the band across the pond.

Speaking at the UK Radio Aid day (January 17) Liam Gallagher explained that Oasis’ album is nearly complete and as soon as its ready he’s intending on causing as much grief as possible.

“We’re gonna finish this record off, master it, and go out there and do some gigs.” He explained, “And hopefully get up as many people’s noses as we can.”

“It sounds good, it sounds good man. Very nice. It’s sort of done now, we just need to get it mastered and then put it in the cover and away we go.”

Rumours have also started circulating that Oasis’ new Dave Sardy-produced album will be entitled ‘Don't Believe The Truth’, and the first single will be ‘I Stand Alone’ which should be released in late March.

Either way, Noel Gallagher himself has confirmed that the new record will definitely include tracks 'Guess God Thinks I'm Able', ’Part Of The Queue’ and ‘The Importance Of Being Idle’ and is pencilled in for release on May 16.

Oasis are heading out on a full UK tour later this year and according to Noel have "bagged some magnificent support bands" for the jaunt.
