The Longcut, The Fever and Jawbone

Different people do very different things with guitars, as demonstrated by this month's exclusive set of future music for London - eclecticism ruled supreme with The Long Cut, The Fever and Jawbone all doing what they variously do best.
The Long Cut 'X-posure Live' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
After the band's three-track EP 'Transition', the extended play of this set was quite a treat. Though born of the same Deltasonic label as The Coral and The Zutons, The Long Cut reflect a moodier darker side. They cite Mogwai and Sonic Youth as their influences for demonstrable reasons.
The Long Cut have a clear motto; music speaks louder than words. As a result they cultivate a harmonious relationship between bass and lead guitars, making their various instrumental interludes emotional and reflective. That's not to say the lyrics aren't up to the job, as demonstrated by belting opener 'Last Act of Desperate Men' - this band could just be Manchester's answer to The Killers.
The Fever 'X-posure Live' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
Having toured with the likes of The Hives, The Fever are no strangers to stuff-strutting punk pop with attitude. And strut their stuff they do. An angry amalgamation of The Clash, Devo and Gang of Four, The Fever send shivers down the spine with their rebellious, cynical tunes.
With a healthy smattering of tracks from their 'Red Bedroom' album released in May last year, The Fever dare us to suggest that they're just Another New York Band. They most certainly are not. Thrashing through a set packed with tracks like the highly coveted 'Bridge And Tunnel' and the awesome ' Put It On You', only a doctor's note would excuse you from the moshpit.
Jawbone 'X-posure Live' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
Jawbone, or more fittingly St Jawbone, the patron saint of one-man-bands, bent the genres once again - championed by none other than John Peel, Jawbone's album 'Dang Blues' has recieved rave reviews both sides of the pond. Bob Zabor, aka Jawbone, plays a tantalisingly short but deliciously sweet set - an explosion of Blues and country sounds closing with the knee-slapping Gasoline, bringing out the blues in all our souls. 'Dang Hal, pass me the corn-bread...'
