The family members of former member of Soft Cell, Marc Almond, have reported that the singer is in a stable condition having left intensive care following his recent motorcycle accident (October 16).

The family of Soft Cell frontman Marc Almond have posted a message for fans on the singer's website explaining that though his recovery may take some time, he remains in a stable condition at the Royal London Hospital.

"Marc’s family would like you to know that he is progressing with his recovery in hospital," the post explains. "His family have passed on to him the overwhelming amount of good wishes which have been received and Marc is aware of all the messages of love and support. He still has a long way to go in his recovery and his family have asked that his privacy continue to be respected.

"They would also like to thank the staff at the hospital for their work in aiding his recovery so far. I'm sure you will all join us today in breathing a sigh of relief at this positive news."

Almond was riding pillion on a Suzuki motorbike in London when the bike collided with a car. He and the motorcyclist driving landed on the road and were both seriously hurt receiving head injuries. Both were taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, where Almond (45) underwent surgery.

Soft Cell, formed by Almond and keyboard player David Ball in 1980 and found fame with their massive international 1981 hit ‘Tainted Love’. The duo spilt in 1984, however they reformed for a reunion tour two weeks ago, but were forced to cancel the dates after Almond suffered a hernia problem.

Those wishing to send a ‘Get Well’ message for Marc Almond can do so at thinkingofyou@marcalmond.co.uk The family have requested that instead of sending gifts, wellwishers make donations to the London Air Ambulance, who aided Almond at the scene of the accident instead.
