Franz Star In Harry Potter Movie?

Franz Ferdinand have been approached to write some music for the upcoming new Harry Potter film, and frontman Alex Kapranos has hinted that their may be roles for the band in the movie.

Speaking to VH1, Kapranos explained that his band have been asked to provide some music for the film, 'Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire’ and the band may even be following Ian Brown’s recent example and appear in the movie.

"We've been asked to write some music for [the film]," Kapranos said to VH 1, "There's a section where there's a band of ugly sisters playing and I think, well ... Some members of Franz Ferdinand may be the ugly sisters in the band,"

"There's an excitement and innocence about those films,” Kapranos said while explaining his involvement is still in negotiation, “I like how there's good and evil, and that's a clarity which is quite refreshing." 

Kapranos also explained that the band have already got a stack of new songs ready for the next album (including ‘Blonde Ambition’, ‘Doing Fine’, ‘Made To Minx by Lung Leg’, ‘Your Diary’, ’This Boy’ and ‘I've Got Ten Pounds’) as well as a title and a colour scheme for the album's artwork (how very Franz Ferdinand) but aren’t revealing either.

"I've been mucking about with a 12-string [guitar] and Nick's been playing slide, but we're not going to be drastically different," Kapranos said when asked about the new album’s direction, "We're certainly not going to start using a bunch of effects pedals. We like the idea of capturing a band in a room playing live."
