X-clusive: Beta Band Announce Final Tour

added 02 September 2004 at 14.43

When the Beta Band announced they were to split, they threatened just one more victory lap around the UK to say goodbye to the fans. As promised, the soon to be disbanding Beta Band will tour one more time and Xfm has details of the first show to be announced.

The band have announced they will play the Carling Academy in Glasgow on Friday November 12. The band have confirmed there will be more shows to follow in the near future, so keep checking Xfm Online for all the details as they emerge.

The Beta Band announced last month that after eight years and three critically acclaimed albums that they would call it a day.

A statement from the band reads: “All good things must come to an end. And so it is that after eight years of creating consistently innovative music, releasing three critically acclaimed albums and staging some legendary live shows, The Beta Band have decided to call it a day.

“And they’re going out on a high. Steve Mason, Richard Greentree, John Maclean and Robin Jones made an immediate impact with their debut release and the resulting compilation ‘The Three EPs’. Sadly, eight years of hard work and critical acclaim but little return in terms of commercial success inevitably takes its toll and a group decision was made to finally lay the band to rest.”

The Beta Band will also release a DVD featuring a collection of videos and films in 2005.

Tickets for the Glasgow show are priced at £15 and are available now from the usual outlets.
