Ex-Queen Nick Oliveri Attacks Soundman

Bearded nutcase and former Queens Of The Stone Age bassplayer Nick Oliveri seems to have finally lost it. Following his dismissal from Queens for being seemingly too intoxicated even for Josh Homme, he’s been concentrating on his other band Mondo Generator, but even they seem to have had enough…
Oliveri's Mondo band mates, Dave Catching, Molly Mcguire, and Alfredo Hernandez seem to have had enough following an incident that left Oliveri on a roadside in the middle of the German countryside.
The problems seem to have begun when Oliveri took a disliking to what he thought was a bad sound and jumped off the stage, fought through the audience to take up his grievance with a soundman. Unfortunately letting his fists do the talking, he was finally pulled away, but not before he managed to break the nose and teeth of the engineer.
“I’m sorry to have to cancel the accoustic (sic) show in Cervia…” he explains on his website. “I have never in 16 years of playing shows and touring canceled (sic). I am extremely angry about this and will make it up to you. The truth is I was asked to leave the bus we have been touring on, and was left on the side of the road in Germany somewhere.”
With Oliveri’s future currently in the balance, Xfm will bring you news of his projects as soon as they’re announced.
In other Queens Of The Stone Age news, it’s reported that the bands next album will feature a collaboration with ZZ Top guitarist Billy F Gibbons. Gibbons, a guitarist much admired by the sole remaining founding Queen Josh Homme, has recently been in the band’s studio for an all-night recording session.
According to QOTSA.com Gibbons "rolled into the studio... at the stroke of midnight and left at 5 in the A.M.” Speaking to Billboard Gibbons explained “They're definitely some dedicated fashioners of tone and taste and, clearly, no strangers to those bluesy wee hours. That’s when it's the most rockin’ and those guys seem to be always ready to rock."
Rumours that Homme is just missing having a compadre with an amusing beard are currently unconfirmed.
