He may have been temporarily foisted from The Libertines while he sorts out his drug problems, but it seems nothing can stop Pete Doherty from playing live as news of an acoustic gig and a set by his solo project Babyshambles arrives at the Xfm News Desk.
While the Libertines prepare to play a series of UK festival dates without Doherty, the troubled singer has announced a couple of live dates in London next week.
The Bring Your Own Poisons night at the Rhythm Factory in East London will play host to an acoustic set by Doherty (plus guests) at midnight on Tuesday July 13. Support comes from The Anderson Council, The Dash, Chrome Hoof, Con Mun Gas, Uncle Pedro and guest DJs Those Two Girls vs The Spoon.
The Rhythm Factory also plays host to Doherty’s side project Babyshambles on Friday July 16. Support on this night comes from The Lams, Snowpony, Les Incompetants, British Beef, Tigermoth, Smatka Molot and return DJ slots from Those Two Girls and The Panthers.
Both gigs kick off at 8.00pm and run till 2-30am. Tickets available now priced £10 from www.ticketweb.co.uk and www.rhythmfactory.co.uk.
The Rhythm Factory is at 16-18 Whitechapel Road. Nearest tube Aldgate East.
In other Libertines news, from July 24 - July 25 the Proud Gallery Camden is staging an exhibition of Roger Sargent’s photos of The Libertines entitled ‘The Boys In The Band’.
