Jailhouse Jock – Was Elvis Presley Scottish?

A tiny Scottish village has claimed that Elvis Presley was Scottish, as his great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather got married there almost 300 years ago
Allan Morrison from the Aberdeenshire village of Lonmay (population 300) has researched the history of the area and claims Elvis's ancestors emigrated from the area to the US more than 250 years ago.
Records reportedly show the first Presley in America, Andrew Presley (The King's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather who arrived in North Carolina in 1745) was originally from Lonmay.
The King's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather married a woman with the amazing name of Elspeth Leg in the village on August 27 in 1713. Their son, also called Andrew, became a blacksmith and set sail from his home to America.
"Having established the Presleys were Scottish, it has been a joy to trace their past,” Morrison the Aberdeen Press and Journal, “Even after all these years after his death, Elvis is the world's most enduring icon."
However it's not the first time anyone has tried to claim Elvis as their own. Both Paisley and a Scottish village called Alves previously laid claim to the singer’s ancestry, as have The Presli Hills of West Wales and Munster in Ireland where there was once a Bishop named St Elvis.
