Lollapalooza Festival To Return

Following the success of last year’s Lollapalooza, event organiser Perry Farrell is planning on bringing the travelling festival back to tour the states this summer. Will it ever come to the UK? Well, they’ve been saying that for years…..
The festival was originally introduced by Farrell in 1991, with a line-up of his band Jane’s Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, Ice-T/Body Count, Living Colour, Butthole Surfers and Rollins Band and was relaunched in 2003 after a five year absence.
Now according to reports the William Morris Agency are finalising the line up and organisational plans. No bands have been named for the tour yet, which last year boasted sets from Jane's Addiction, Queens Of The Stone Age, Incubus, Audioslave, The Donnas and A Perfect Circle.
While high production costs led to the cancellation of two shows during last year’s jaunt, and ticket receipts were down considerably on their 1994 peak (when the tour cleared more than $21million) it still grossed $13.7 million from 25 shows according to Billboard.
As for the line up, in a similar fashion to Glastonbury rumours are already circulating. While it is unknown if Jane's Addiction will play (the group cancelled a series of shows with Marilyn Manson last month citing "exhaustion brought on by a rigorous touring schedule.") but The Pixies seem to be hot favourites.
Whether the event will make it to these shores is not known either. Farrell has often threatened to tour the event in the UK, but there has been no confirmation at time of writing.
