The Early Breakfast Show
They’ve asked me to write a description of The Early Breakfast Show….that’s a tough one. Mostly, it’s just me, the rookie presenter, stumbling over my words and keeping you company in the early hours.
Seriously, it’s a blank canvas on which you're welcome to draw, so email me in that email box thing at the bottom of this page and let’s make some plans…
Listen to my latest interview:
FOALS
The Weekly Challenge
I want you all to set me a different challenge every week… this will be lots of fun. Well, for you anyway.
The Piercing Challenge
This week's challenge involved getting a piercing somewhere on my body. I'd like to say I didn't cry like a little girl...so I will. I took it like a man. All the screaming was merely coincidental.
The Kiss Challenge
This week I was set the challenge of getting 15 kisses in 15 minutes on the street – I am proud to say I passed said challenge…and managed to keep, oh at least 5% of my dignity.
Have you got an idea for a challenge?
Have a think about it – and we shall make plans on-air; Monday to Friday 3am-6am. You can contact me using the form at the bottom of the page.
Early Morning Caller
Being on in the middle of the night is fun. You can pretty much guarantee that if you call your mates at four in the morning they're not gonna be too happy about it...
So I thought it would be fun to call Xfm DJs during my show. Have a listen to what happened when I called each of these DJs:
For more of the same, tune in to Xfm Monday to Friday 3am - 6am.

Questions, Questions, Questions....
1. Your chief characteristic?
I’m quite lazy, and Xfm news reader Matt Dyson and a homeless man agree that I look like a pirate.
2. Your favourite virtue?
In a person? People that manage to be funny but not arrogant are a rare find, and a brilliant one.
3. Your biggest flaw?
I procrastinate a LOT. I also have a tendancy to get really drunk and say the wrong thing, leading to me getting pet names like 'Rude Phil' when I first started at Xfm.
4. What was your worst ever job?
Handing out flyers for this dance club, where the chavs would walk past me and tell me to “Get a real Job.”
5. Which characters in musical history do you most dislike?
I wholly believe that every former member of steps deserves to face a gritty end.
6. Your favourite album ever? (yes, I know it’s impossible, but try dammit)
That is impossible…pick from Hendrix, The Stones, The Libertines, I could go on and on……
7. Who’s your favourite DJ?
Music Response presenter Steve Harris knows how to work a catchphrase…”BOOM!” But then Rick Edwards always manages to “Fix Up Look Sharp.” Marsha has a sexy morning voice. John Kennedy and John Hilcock, like my much cooler older brothers, are my musical source, whereas Dave Berry and Matt Dyson are my boys. On the other hand Danny Wallace and Rich are also my dudes…can I just have them all?
8. What was the first single you bought?
(and be honest about it) I think that it honestly was ACDC.
19. …and you first gig? (ditto)
Seeing the Dropkick Murphy’s at Leeds Met years ago – the crowd ate me alive.
10. Your favourite qualities in a band/musician?
I guess it’s always good when you hear a song and get the same emotion as the person had when they were writing it – or for an answer a bit less wank-ish I would have to say anything that makes me wanna dance like there aint no tomorrow. Although I don’t dance…No wait, CANT, cant is the word I meant to use.
11. Your favourite author?
Well, my favourite book is probably “One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest” by Ken Kasey. Or “The Tao of Pooh and the Te of Piglett” by Benjamin Hoff.
12. Your pet aversion?
Try-hards and people who tell you, and everyone else, what they want to hear.
13. What three songs would you have played at your funeral?
It use to be ACDC Highway to Hell, then I realized that would be a bit dark so I guess; “Lover You Should’ve Come Over” by Jeff Buckley, The Stones “Wild Horses” and….I don’t know.
14. What is your present state of mind?
Its mid-day as I’m writing this so I would have to say tired…I’m use to being awake in the night time!
