Vampire Weekend Drummer Injured

added 29 February 2008 at 10.19

Vampire Weekend drummer Chris Thompson was involved in an horrific accident just hours after attending the NME Awards last (February 28). He sustained a head injury after being hit by a car.

The accident happened outside the Hoxton Hotel sometime after midnight (February 29). An ambulance was called out and the hapless drummer was taken to the Royal London Hospital.

Xfm Breakshow presenter Alex Zane was present at the accident. He said:

"It was awful. It sounded like big bang popping and I saw this guy on the floor and someone called an ambulance which arrived really quickly."

He continued: " [Thompson] was unconscious to start with but he then managed a smile and a wave as he was stretchered away."

Xfm wish Chris Thompson a speedy recovery.

Meanwhile tickets for the band's UK tour went on sale this morning. They're playing the Electric Ballroom in Camden on May 13.

Tickets for the shows are available from the Xfm Xchange on 0871 222 1049 or from the Xfm Online Ticket Shop by clicking here.

The full UK tour dates are as follows:
