Topman CTRL Featuring Lightspeed Champion

The past two months have seen the likes of Metronomy and Ladyhawke take on Topman CTRL, letting us into their musical and cultural worlds and curating two CTRL Live shows.

Now it's the turn of Lightspeed Champion AKA Dev Hynes to take charge and he couldn't have timed it better as this month Topman CTRL will make its festival debut at The Great Escape...

The hotly tipped Brighton event takes place on May 14th, 15th & 16th. Dev will curate a 3-day music extravaganza on the CTRL stage at The Great Escape’s Digital venue.

Topman CTRL should be fun!', Dev says, 'see some good bands, take a holiday to Brighton, eat some chips, and it's cool that if people want to, they can see what kind of stuff I'm into... I can't really ask for more in life!"

The artists handpicked by Lightspeed Champion to perform on the CTRL stage are an eclectic mix of friends, kindred creative spirits and current buzz bands. The first day kicks off with gothic / pop quartet This Tawdry Affair, followed by the delicate vocal melodies of Emmy the Great and the highly anticipated return of The Lemonheads frontman Evan Dando.
 
The next day will see the Controller himself take centre stage supported by guitar and vocal harmonist The Train Chronicles, melodramatic pop songsters Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man and blossoming starlet I Blame Coco. The weekend wraps up with Alan Pownall, much-hyped Brooklyn duo Telepathe and local boys, British Sea Power.
 
Lightspeed Champion begins his CTRL stewardship on May 1st. He will be in charge of the blog, shining a light on his deepest influences as well as giving tips and views on music, film, fashion, art and all the other cultural matters that inspire him. All this as Topman CTRL enters its third phase.
