The Best Covers Album In The World... Ever!

Pete is compiling a series of killer compilations. But he needs your help. Second on the list is the very best cover versions ever? Have your say here!

Pete Mitchell is a man on a mission. And that mission is to compile a series of the greatest albums on a particular theme. But, like some kind of radio-based Captain Kirk, he needs a crew to go along with him. And that's where you come in. The second in our series of fantasy compilation albums is "The Best Covers Album In The World... Ever!"
Each day this week, Pete will be playing a couple of songs that fit that theme and inviting you to have your say. We'll gather them up here and give you the chance to make your own mega-playlist. So, leave a comment at the bottom and let us know what you think.
Here's what we have so far...
1. The Lemonheads 'Mrs Robinson'
Evan Dando gives the Simon & Garfunkle classic a mid-90s once-over.
2. The Jam 'David Watts'
Always a fan of The Kinks, it wasn't long before Weller gave a Kinks classic a good throttling.
3. Johnny Cash 'Hurt'
Who'd have thought the Man-In-Black's take on a Nine Inch Nails tune would be so moving.
4. Happy Mondays 'Step On'
A cover? A COVER? Why yes, of course it is. John Kongos did the original. Like, DUH!
5. Ian Brown 'Billie Jean'
King Monkey has a go at a Jacko classic.
6. Jimi Hendrix 'All Along The Watchtower'
The guitar maestro joins the elite club of artists that have actually improved the song they're covering.
7. Nirvana 'The Man Who Sold The World'
The occasion was the Seattle three piece's 'Unplugged' album. The result was jaw dropping.
8. Placebo 'Running Up That Hill'
Molko and co. take an admirable stab at a Kate Bush belter.
9. Siouxsie Sue 'Dear Prudence'
The Beatles get a goth makeover by Siouxsie. The fabs would be proud.
10. Frente 'Bizarre Love Triangle'
Coming in all the way from the leftfield, the Aussie indie darlings bash out a New Order anthem.
