Should He Stay Or Should He Go?

Xfm Online can reveal that there is massive confusion regarding Paul Weller’s future at his current record label. Rumours are flying surrounding Weller’s departure from record label Independiente.

A message to fans on his official website states that he has “parted company with Independiente Records, they decided not to take up the next option.” He goes on to explain that the split is amicable saying, I'm not upset/angry about it at all, it's time to move on for me anyway. In the meantime we are in discussion with various other labels.”

However both Independiente and Paul Weller’s press office claim that it is nothing more than a rumour fuelled by curious fans who have been bombarding the label’s message board.

Paul Weller has been with the record label for over ten years and has enjoyed chart-topping success with ‘Stanley Road’ and ‘Illumination’. His last US tour failed to sell as well as expected and several shows were cancelled as a result.

Elsewhere, Weller will be playing alongside Garbage, Faithless and fellow label mates(?) Travis at the anti war gig ‘One Big No’ at The Shepherd’s Bush Empire this Saturday (March 15).
