X-POSURE Listener Blog 2 - Wakestock

This week's X-POSURE listener blog comes from XFM listener Simon Smith. Read his account of this year's Wakestock festival here.

"We had been never to Wakestock before but it was great! We didn't know what to expect with all the wakeboarding but it was cool to watch in the artificial pool. The location was absolutely amazing in between the hills and the beach.

It was so cool to see the sun going down over the stage. The audience was very young and up for it! There was a massive buzz around the festival, it was really fantastic!  Even though the festival was small there was a lot of energy. The first band we heard at the festival was Wolf Gang and they kicked off with Dancing With The Devil.

My highlight of the whole festival was Ed Sheeran - he’s fantastic, he had the crowd eating out of his hand! The tent was packed out and everyone loved him. He was the only support that did an encore (cheeky!) and played Bob Dylan's 'Make You Feel My Love'.

The stage area was quite a small set up really. Ed Sheeran had a good backdrop with his name on though. The only band that was a bit of a let down for us was Nero. I thought they were a bit boring really. Not our thing. So this was the perfect opportunity to grab a drink from the bar…

My least favourite part of Wakestock was learning that hangovers and sunburn don't mix! Also the Wombats were great. On the other hand Example was a bit disappointing, too many new songs.

I would mark the event a big 8 out of 10. Some great acts and a great atmosphere."
