X-POSURE Listener Blog 5 - Truck Festival

This week’s X-POSURE listener blog comes from XFM’r Gavin Surgey. Read his musings after witnessing Bellowhead at Truck Festival here.
"I had never seen or heard of Bellowhead before, but when I told my friend who was playing at Truck Festival he said I had to see them as he watched them at Glastonbury and had the time of his life.
We arrived at the impressively set up main tent which was set on a slight slope which allowed everyone a view of the stage. The 11 piece band arrived on the stage to a warm welcome by an excited audience.
At first it took a while for people to start dancing but after one or two songs the mood set it and the charismatic lead singer Jon Boden and the energy of the band quickly got the audience joyfully dancing to their traditional dance and folk tunes.
A highlight of the show was the chance to hear such a large band playing so effortlessly and with such energy. The number of different instruments played by the band members was incredible; they would switch between them at ease for wide range of different sounds.
The stage show was impressive with the lighting complimenting the music well and the large stage accommodated the 11 piece band who tended to move around a lot very well.
Luckily we were allowed to bring our own alcohol into the festival so we prepared enough for the gig by bringing enough beers not to have to stop dancing and leave the front of the crowd for a bar break!
The band was better than I expected and I promptly sent my friend a text to thank him for his recommendation. I would give the gig a high 8/10 for its diversity and energy.
The best souvenir from the gig was the recording I took on my phone for the fond memory of Bellowhead who I would definitely see again if the chance arises."
