Name:
Lliana Bird
Place of birth:
London Town
Describe your Xfm show in three words:
"listen" "to" "it!"
What was your first job?
Picking up rubbish in Devon when I was 6 and organising the scavenger hunts for the village.
What's your favourite place in London?
The Secret Garden in Kensington Gardens, a mini haven filled with interesting characters and squirrels.
Who is your favourite band of all time?
Aaah! That's like Sophie's Choice, and i won't pick my favourite kid! The Velvet Underground, Peggy Lee, Black Lips, Henry Mancini, The Kills, Francoise Hardy, Blur, Lucy Pearl, Patti Smith, Buddy Holly, Camille Saint-Saens, Love, Kevin Ayers, Tame Impala, Syd Barrett, Medelssohn, Meat Puppets, The Flaming Lips, Joni Mitchell, ...the list is endless.
Which musician would you most like to be, living or dead?
Gotta be Elvis. Just to be King for a day.
What was the first album you bought?
Oh dear...ahem....it was Bryan Adams, Waking up the Neighbours.
Which is your favourite album of all time?
The Carnival of The Animals by Camille Saint-Saens. I discovered it aged 5 when I played a tortoise in a production of it (with a laundry basked on my back for a shell) and I have loved it ever since. Its as close to perfection as an album could be.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
Why, getting my own show on Xfm of course!
What is the highlight of your career so far?
Making a series of documentaries about independent record labels was a real personal achievement for me...and dancing on stage with Iggy after interviewing him was just pure rock n' roll indulgence!
If your show was a biscuit, what kind of biscuit would it be?
Jammy Dodger - a perfect accompaniment to a cup of tea, fun, lots of layers, but doesn't take itself too seriously
What was the first ever gig you went to?
Menswear at Shepherds Bush Empire (the drummer ended up being my boss at Xfm years later, that was a bit of a curve ball)
What's your idea of hell?
Silence
Which bad habit irritates you the most?
Rudeness, there's no excuse for bad manners
What's your favourite film?
Breakfast At Tiffany's
Who is your hero?
Mighty Mouse
We're buying - what's your tipple?
Oooh, a cheeky Amaretto Sour please, and make mine a double!
What do you think about when the records are playing on Xfm?
Honestly? I'm either dancing about or working out if I've got enough time to make a quick cup of tea.
What did you dream last night?
I dreamt that I invented a suitcase which also doubled up as a portable bed for greyhounds, and that I wrote a book called 'The Official Life of Paul The Clam'
What's in your pockets at the moment?
Nothing, i'm still in my pyjamas. Its not midday yet you know....
What's your catchphrase?
Jack of all trades and master of none, but who said that Jack wasn't having more fun.
What is the most important thing in life?
This is super cheesy but it has to be love.
How would you sum up Xfm in one word?
A WONDERSLAB!
