Tim Burgess

The Charlatans frontman will have a new release in the Autumn...

The album - called Oh No I Love You - is coming out on September 24 on his own label, O Genesis.

Speaking to Xfm's Claire Sturgess Tim Burgess explained how he finally got to work with US alt-country legend Kurt Wagner on his new solo record.

"In 2000 or 2001 I went to see a concert by Kurt Wagner - he was doing a solo gig in Manchester," Tim explained. "I'd met him before and I was a big fan of Lambchop. I said to him, 'we should write a song together'. He said, 'okay Tim, you write the music and I'll write the words'."

"Ten years later, on a whim, I decided to call Kurt to see if he was going to be around in Nashville and he,very graciously, said I'll do what I can and we ended up with six songs in two weeks."

Members of Lambchop, Clem Snide and My Morning Jacket all feature on the ten song strong record - as well as strings, brass and a gospel choir.

He's going to hit the road to support the album in October.
