The Cult To Support Led Zeppelin

added 21 November 2007 at 10.14

The Cult's frontman Ian Astbury has hinted they'll be supporting Led Zeppelin in 2008.

Hard rockers The Cult - who recently released their new album 'Born Into This' - fanned the Led Zep tour flames during their show in Cincinnati on Saturday evening (November 17) when frontman Astbury proclaimed,

"We'll be back next year because we're opening for a band you may have heard of ... the name starts with an 'L' and has a 'Z' in it."

Needless to say this prompted a rapturous response from the crowd, with one fan screaming out "Led Zeppelin!" to which Astbury excitedly grinned, nodded and gave the thumbs up.

Despite no official comment from either The Cult or Led Zeppelin's camps, Led Zep's legendary guitarist Jimmy Page  - whose one off Ahmet Ertegun tribute show (December 10) has incited total frenzy - had previously added fuel to the fire, telling Reuters it would be "Silly not to" do more shows, before adding, "Let's just do the O2 and we'll see what happens from there. I haven't got a crystal ball here and nor have you."

Zeppelin's double disc 'Mothership: The Very Best of' is in stores now and you can win a copy as well as loads of other exclusive Led Zep goodies by clicking here.

As for the potential tour we'll have to watch this space.
