The Coral Scale Back

It's been confirmed that guitarist Bill Ryder-Jones has left Scouse psychedelicists The Coral.

A statement from the band says that the Ryder-Jones is no longer a member and that The Coral will continue as a quintet.

This isn't the first time the erstwhile guitarist has left The Coral. Ryder-Jones quit The Coral in 2004 due to illness but rejoined the band at a later date.

His immediate plans remain unknown.

The Coral, meanwhile, have already demo-ed their next album and aim to release it later this year. Speaking to NME, frontman James Skelly said that the idea was to record and self-produce the new album in April with a view to releasing it via their website. Said Skelly of the new material:

"It's darker than a lot of our recent stuff, but still quite acoustic and original. It's got a theme that the album title would give away - but I'm not going to reveal everything about it until we've done it and I have it in my hands."
