The Charlatans - 'Some Friendly'

added 02 July 2009 at 15.44

Tim Burgess turns baggy up to 11 and a country full of indie club dancefloors thanks him.

Strictly speaking, they were originally from the West Midlands, but relocated to Northwich in Cheshire when Tim Burgess brought his patented Ian Brown swagger to procedings. Previewed by the monster hit 'The Only One I Know'and the underrated 'Indian Rope', the band's debut album arrived in October 1990 at the height of the baggy boom. Showcasing the Hammond organ talents of the late Rob Collins, the album features some gems, including 'Then' and 'Sproston Green'.
