James - 'Gold Mother'

added 02 July 2009 at 15.37

Tim Booth sits down... and so does the nation.

After years of slogging away and despite releases on Factory Records, major label Sire and a showbiz friendship with Morrissey, it wasn't until James signed to Fontana  in 1990 that they hit paydirt. When a re-recording of their 1988 song 'Sit Down' started picking up momentum at shows and clubs, the album was swiftly re-issued with the single, plus 'Lose Control' and was a major hit. It also includes the storming 'Come Home', 'How Was It For You?' and the funky title track is also a highlight.
Top tune: 'Come Home'
