Damon Gough - for it is he - made his mark right from the off when his debut album 'The Hour Of Bewilderbeest' won the Mercury Music Prize for 2000. From 'neath his trademark woolly hat, Gough sketched occasionally maudlin and often sweet tales of love and angst, best typified by the single 'Once Around The Block'. Subsequent albums didn't hit as big, but the Boy managed to capitalise on his popularity to move into scoring the soundtrack for the Hugh Grant vehicle, 'About A Boy'.
