New Soundgarden Album "Going in New Direction"

As the band reveal their first new song in fifteen years Chris Cornell has been telling Xfm their new album feels "fresh"...
Following a teaser last week Soundgarden have revealed their first new song in a decade and a half.
Called Live to Rise it is set to feature on the soundtrack for the upcoming Avengers movie and is the only new track on the compilation.
The band are currently working on a new studio album, due out in the Autumn, and lead singer Chris Cornell's been telling Xfm the big break for the band - who split up 12 years ago - hasn't been a problem.
"If anything it has helped us," he explained to Xfm's Mary Anne Hobbs. "Certainly in writing and recording the new album it's feels very fresh. Everyone is included and an equal part of it musically and it feels very natural and expressive and we're going in new directions we never did before."
Mary Anne Hobbs had the Xfm first play on Music:Response last night of Live to Rise.
Chris also told her he thinks the new record will add to their legacy - but says that's not always the case when bands reform.
"Adding to what I belive is an important legacy as opposed to when a band gets together and if they make new music it doesn't ad to anything, it just sort of subtracts. It's in a sense borrowing from a great legacy to go out and make money and have something to do. This is not that."
