Hat Trick For Arctic Monkeys

added 28 February 2008 at 19.26

Arctic Monkeys emerged victorious from tonight’s (February 28) NME Awards when the Sheffield quartet scooped a huge three of the whopping seven awards that they were nominated for. And there was triple success in other quarters too…

Arctic Monkeys picked up the gongs for Best Band, Best Track (‘Fluorescent Adolescent’) and Best Video (‘Teddy Picker’).

Elsewhere, the sci-fi prog effect was felt in full as Muse walked away with the Best Live Band award while the newly refurbished Wembley Stadium - scene of the Devon trio's spectacular double header - was voted the Best Venue.

Remaining on the live front, The Reading & Leeds Festivals claimed victory as it beat Glastonbury and V Festival when it won the Best Live Event award.

The Mighty Boosh scored particularly well as it grabbed the Best TV Show Award while the pretty Noel Fielding was declared both Sexiest Man and Best Dressed. Somewhat bizarrely for the world of indie, Aussie pop princess Kylie Minogue was crowned the Sexiest Female

Britney Spears’ continuing woes were added to when ‘Blackout’ was named Worst Album while the Worst Band was somewhat predictably revealed as The Hoosiers.
