Flaming Lips For Camp Bestival

added 03 December 2007 at 13.27

Camp Bestival has announced Chuck Berry and Flaming Lips as their fabtastic debut headliners.

Bestival's brand spanking new sister festival - Camp Bestival - takes place for the very first time July 18 - 20 at Lulworth Castle in Dorset, with Chuck Berry and Flaming Lips set to top the bill.

The grand master of all things rock n roll, Mr Chuck Berry, will take to the main stage on the opening night (Friday July 18), dipping into a back catalogue of 28 studio albums and a huge array of hits from 'Johnny B. Goode' to 'Roll Over Beethoven'.

Meanwhile the fabulous Flaming Lips' psychadelic flavours and colourful onstage antics will be capping off the night on Saturday (July 19). Wayne Coyne and his motley crew of merry men remind fans on their website, "Don't forget to bring yer glove puppets, furry suits, fake blood and a big smile..." Expect this one to be eventful.

Other live acts confirmed to date include Billy Bragg, Florence and The Machine, King Cresote and most notably, The Wurzels. All together now, straw hats on, ciders corked aaand, "I've got a brand new combine 'arvester."

Storytelling, poetry, dance classes and theatre will also be on hand for the more cultural beans amongst us whilst DJs including Rob Da Bank, Queens of Noize and Andrew Weatherall will be spinning tunes on the decks well into the wee hours.

Tickets for the event are on sale now and are priced thus: adult weekend £120.00, child weekend £60.00. All under 12’s go free (ticket required). Tickets are available from the ticketline on 0844 888 4410 and from www.bestival.net.
