'Emo Suicide' Row Continues - Have Your Say

With My Chemical Romance and the 'emo' genre being blamed - not only by the coroner dealing with young Hannah Bond's suicide but The Daily Mail as well - fans of the band and fellow musicians have been reacting strongly to the accusations.

Elbow, Kate Nash and Pigeon Detectives are just a few of the bands who have been speaking to Xfm in support of My Chemical Romance, and users comments describe how "furious" they are and that "music is a freedon of expression and helps others through difficult emotions".

Others Xfm users have commented that "you have [My Chemical Romance frontman] Gerard Way telling the children his music is aimed towards "And wouldn't it be great if we were dead?"...music does have something to do with it in my opinion."

My Chemical Romance have now themselves reacted, posting a message to the world on their myspace page declaring themselves a positive life influence in young people's lives.

With a massive march planned in London this Saturday (May 31) we want to know what you, the music fans, think about the issue.

1. firstly "EMO" is a stereotype the same as is "chav"
   
   Admittedly the vast minority of emo's have cut themselves, but thats mostly because they have FEELINGS and dont pride themselves on being insensitive and get depressed unlike chavs, some people do kill themselves too if you screw their lives so badly so f**k off you bunch of chav insensitive bast*rds and get your own life to mess with!... bunch of psychos
   
   And this article is a load of shit! The person in charge needs to be burned alive
   
   And MCR is a great band btw!!
   And I am "emo" and im proud of it! so f**k you!

2. Emo people are just a bunch of whinning bitches who cant stop complaining how pathetic and miserable their existance is all about. Cant they do anything other than complain? I despise EMO because they always complain, they dont find solutions to their problems instead by pester other people by telling them their problems and when they cant take it anymore, they kill themselves. How freaking lame..

4. Hello reality check has everyone forgot about famous last words ? the lyrics says "I am not afraid to keep on living" if this girl just killed herself she sould have taught before she did it.

5. I am a huge fan of My Chem, I have had a bad life and I did stuff to regret. But when I heard My Chem for the first time, I was actually happy. I had never been so happy in my life.

6. ok you blame My chem for people killing themselves what for they dont insist you go hang yourselves mayby you should try having a go at the scum of society the chavs you tell me that mcr make people kill themselve when rappers and MC'rs promote killing and vandalising and taking drug and stealing things

7. im sick of this whole emo music and culture stuff
   i look a lil but emo right and its like a badge if disgrace or summet and i should be insulted for it
   and any band who has a member with a fringe is emo
   
   MCr atent emo and fall out boy defo are not
   fall out boy is soft rock
   i mean 3 of there member look liek normal guys for god sake
   MCR dont sound like fall out boy and fall out boy dont sound like the used yet there all emo music screw that
   
   anyone who wants to carry a depressed amo tag let them
   but this is another example of using music as a scapegoat
   not once have i listened to mcr and felt depressed
   
   eoy orbison had a slight fringe at times and sung about love alot so that must make him emo

   the music you listen=en to doesnt make u emo
   i like mcr i just like there music does not make me emo in any way
   tbh ppl need to just forget the word emo cuz its branding alot of young ppl with a fringe when there just normal ppl

9. i was fuming when i read this story in kerrang mag.
   (Everyone forgot to tell me about it for a reason)
   Just about all my friends and me are 'emo', and some arnt but because of people in our class we take to it, even thouogh we didnt start out that way.
   MCR are not to blame for this, they are a tight band who work their butts off to make great music, i've knwn them for 3 years now(im only 14) and they just get better, and their words tell a story, so next time you read goldilocks and the three bears or summin dont wonder off into a wood and eat some random food 'cuz someone else wrote about it (or sung),make up your own mind, enjoy the story and follow your own rules and trends.
   Hanna killed herself because she was not right in the head.
   YOU ONLY GOT ONE LIFE! LIVE IT!

10. I think that this girl just wanted to fit in with all of the other emo's by cutting her wrists, people seem to think that you are only emo if you cut yourself. But then what about people with Mental Disorders..? i really highly doubt that this girl had any bad problems that could only be resolved by suicide, i mean come on, how bad can a 13 year olds problems be..?
    i think it was a cry for attention, hoping that her paernts would walk in at the right time, but she accidently slipped. Yeah, i know, i'm a bitch.
