Cribs-Marr Collaboration Is Long Term

Speaking exclusively to Xfm, The Cribs unveiled plans to collaborate with Jonny Marr on their next album.
Ahead of their NME tour show at Brixton Academy tonight (February 22) - which has seen the ex-Smiths guitarist regularly join the Wakefield band on stage - bassist Gary Jarman revealed Marr's becoming an integral part of the band:
"He's gradually working his way into more and more songs, so he's doing about five or six with us now. He very much understands the band and everything he comes up with is really great stuff that we'd want on there anyway."
The guitarist - who also plays for Modest Mouse - may well become a permanent fixture in the Wakefield band with plans to record together on the next Cribs album:
"We see this as something for the future that's gonna keep going", Gary revealed. "We're gonna do some recording together and then obviously those songs will only ever work as a fourpiece anyway. We're dead excited about it really and have high hopes for it so hopefully it will continue for a while."
And cementing the idea that Marr may well be joining the band full time Gary continued:
"At first it was like we were gonna collaborate but now its at the point whereby if we make a record its just gonna be the next Cribs record anyway."
The way Johnny puts it 'I'm just playing in a band with my mates, why would I not be allowed to do that?'.
