Cribs-Marr Album On The Way?

added 30 January 2008 at 09.49

The Cribs have suggested that there may be an album on its way of songs recorded with former Smiths fretmeister Johnny Marr.

Following previous reports, the Wakefield trio were joined by Marr in a Stockport studio last week in a session that, according to bassist Gary Jarman, was more productive than anticipated.

Speaking to the BBC, he said:

"Well we don’t know what were gonna do with it yet, we never made a full decision originally, we were just like 'Let's just get together and play for fun'... we're buddies and it seemed like a fun thing to do.

"We wrote a song a day for the past week, we did like five days, we wrote four and demoed them on the last day.

“We don't know what were gonna do now because Johnny was like, 'If we are writing this quick, we should keep getting together and get a record together'.”

Jarman added that The Cribs may even be joined by Marr for live dates:

"It's been going well and it would be shame to cut it short, the original intention was to be doing an EP, its been great having a new member, especially when the new member is your favourite guitarist."
