Charlatans' Supergroup For Carnegie Hall?

added 28 February 2008 at 10.47

The Charlatans' Tim Burgess tells Xfm about The Chavs' aspirations - his supergroup with Carl Barat, Jamie Klaxons and Andy Razorlight.

Jack White's got The Raconteurs, Damon Albarn's got The Good, The Bad and The Queen, and Tim Burgess has...The Chavs!

Speaking exclusively to Xfm about his side project with Carl Barat from Dirty Pretty Things, Jamie Klaxons and Andy Razorlight, Tim revealed they've got big plans for 2008:

"We're a very underground band but we've made a pact that we're gonna get to Carnegie Hall in record time.

"We've got a five-step plan", he continued. "So far we've done a pub gig, then our second was a live TV show so I think we're getting pretty close. We've got three more stages to get to Carnegie...I think we're pretty close."

Tim's "other" band - The Charlatans - today made their new single 'Oh! Vanity' available as a free download exclusively from xfm.co.uk.

Tim told Xfm: "It's all about getting sober which for me over the last couple of years has been a really big thing. It's quite hard to keep motivated and not drink until your vanity starts kicking in and people start telling you how good you look and that becomes this huge motivational thing."

The full album 'You Cross My Path' will be given away next Monday (March 3) from Xfm online.
