Queen to be Named BMI Icons
The band will pick up the honour at the organisation's annual London Awards in October....
The BMI (Broadcast Music Inc) Awards honour songwriters who have had "a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers."
Previous recipients include Donovan, the Bee Gees and James Brown.
BMI is the American performing rights organisation - representing songwriters, composers and music publishers.
The ceremony takes place October 4.
