Peter Hook: "New Order Without Me Is Like Queen Without Freddie Mercury"

The bassist responds to this week's reunion reports...
Peter Hook has commented on the news this week that New Order were to reunite for a pair of charity gigs... without him.
The legendary Manchester band are to play two shows in October in Belgium and Paris in aid of video producer and artist Michael Shamberg. Original keyboardist Gillian Gilbert is returning for the first time in over a decade, but bass viking Hook is not part of the line-up after acriminiously falling out with the other members in 2007.
In a statement, Hook said: "I first I heard about this on Monday and it has taken me completely by surprise! Everyone knows that NEW ORDER without PETER HOOK is like QUEEN without FREDDIE MERCURY, U2 without THE EDGE, SOOTY without SWEEP!
"On a more serious note, I do not understand the decision THE OTHER THREE have taken. I wish they had approached me first. I do not agree with the methods they have used and feel it would have been courteous and professional to have spoken to me in advance of the announcements. It is very sad."
The band play together for the first time in five years at the Ancienne Belgique on October 17 and the Paris Bataclan the following day.
