Kaisers: Create-Your-Own Album Backfired

Kaiser Chiefs have admitted their recent decision to release a 'create-your-own' album backfired ... because some fans still don't know it's even out...
The band caught the music world's attention earlier this year with their decision to put their album in the hands of fans.
As part of the release of The Future Is Medieval earlier this year the band let people buying it online choose which tracks they wanted from a selection, put them in order, create an album cover and then sell it on to their friends - making themselves some cash in the process.
But the Leeds band reckon the quirky idea negatively affected sales of their fourth album.
Speaking to the Daily Star the band admitted that it overshadowed the actual release of it on CD - the 'normal' album came out a few weeks later.
Frontman Ricky told the paper "Our record label wanted to release the CD in time for festival season so that everyone knew the new songs. I can see that logic, but I'd have waited to release the CD until now, once everyone got their heads around the digital release."
But he did add that he "wouldn't change a thing about the album."
