Barclaycard Mercury Prize Nominees Announced

Adele, Everything Everything, Elbow and more up for award...

The nominees for the 2011 Barclaycard Mercury Prize have been announced today (July 19).

Up for the prestigious award for the year's best album are:

Adele - 21
James Blake - James Blake
Anna Calvi - Anna Calvi
Elbow - Build A Rocket Boys
Everything Everything - Man Alive
Ghostpoet - Peanut Butter Blues And Melancholy Jam
PJ Harvey - Let England Shake
Katy B - On A Mission
King Creosote and Jon Hopkins - Thrawn
Metronomy - The English Riviera
Gwilym Simcock - Good Days at Schloss Elmau
Tinie Tempah - Disc-Overy

It's the third time Elbow have been nominated for the gong - they were up in 2001 for Asleep In The Back and took the prize home in 2008 for The Seldom Seen Kid. The award is given at a ceremony in London on Tuesday 6 September.
