Adam Ant Backs Save 100 Club Campaign

added 26 January 2011 at 16.59

He's also been telling Xfm all about his new album - and the celebs who will hopefully be a part of it...

The 80s icon is playing the first of two nights at the Oxford Street venue tonight (January 26),

He told us says it's a very memorable place for him:

"I saw the [Sex] Pistols there, I saw the Clash there, I played there. I remember I was there one night and there was a big fight because someone had a go at Siouxsie because Sid Vicious threw a bottle at someone and it hit him on the head, and there was a big stand off".

It's been a tough few years for the singer - who famously suffers from bipolar disorder.

But it is hoped 2011 will see a return to form for Adam Ant.

As well as gigging he's preparing to release his first album in 15 years:

"The album is called 'Adam Ant is the Blue Black Hussar in Marrying the Gunners Daughter'. albums co-produced with Chris MacCormack - Three Colours Red - and the legendary Boz Boorer who is responsible for every Morrissey single since Johnny Marr left."

And Adam told us he's written some songs for certain famous people who he hopes will appear in the videos:

"I've written a song for Kate Moss called 'Punky Young Girl' and another for Ray Winstone called 'Hard Men Tough Blokes' because he is hard."
