The XX: “Winning NMA Is An Honour”

An overwhelmed Oliver graciously accepts Xfm’s New Music Award.
The XX scooped Xfm’s New Music Award this morning (February 2). Accepting the title was bassist/vocalist Oliver Sim who admitted he was ‘honoured’ by the award. Speaking to the Xfm Breakfast Show with Dave Berry, he said,
“We found out [about winning] this morning and it’s a big honour… we saw the people we were up against so there’ll be a big celebration”.
Sim also mentioned the band planned to begin writing the follow up to their new record this year.
“There’s never been a big masterplan”, he said. “We’re touring and visiting places we’ve never been to. This is our first visit in Australia, but I’d like to think towards the end of the year we’ll come back home and start being creative again”.
