Rage Against The Machine and Aerosmith For Download

Plus, five more bands get added to the Donington rock bash.

Rage Against The Machine and Aerosmith have been confirmed as Download’s other two headliners. They’ll line up with AC/DC to top the bill of the festival that runs between June 11 and 13 at Donington Park.

Other bands that have confirmed appearances at the bash are Lamb Of God, Stone Sour, 30 Seconds To Mars, Billy Idol and Five Finger Death Punch.

Much speculation now surrounds Steven Tyler’s appearance with Aerosmith. Download remain confident that the frontman will appear with the band despite recent rumours. Tyler has even been quoted in the festival's latest press release:

“In the early days of Aerosmith we were infected with the vibe coming out of the UK with The Yardbirds, Blues Breakers, Pretty Things and the Stones and we wanted what they had bad... So baby, we¹re coming home.  Rock & Roll can be pure sex and we can¹t wait to Download.”

Nevertheless, Billy Idol’s billing – a mooted replacement for Tyler – will undoubtedly keep the Aerosmith rumour mill turning.
