Queen Quit EMI

The legendary pomp-rockers are the latest to leave the beleaguered major label.
Queen are the latest in a string of artists to leave troubled major label EMI. The Times are reporting that the veteran rockers are quitting the label – their home for almost 40 years – and heading to Universal.
Queen follow Paul McCartney and Radiohead in departing EMI after the buy-out by private equity firm Terra Firma lead to untold financial woes.
A spokensman for Queen told The Times,
“EMI just decided they couldn’t compete. It was too much to pay and they want to spend that money on developing new talent.”
