Pink Floyd Win EMI Court Battle

The High Court stops the record label selling individual songs on digital platforms.
Pink Floyd have won their legal battle with EMI after the beleaguered label flouted an agreement made in 1999.
The agreement stated that Pink Floyd’s songs could not be sold outside the context of their original albums. EMI believed the agreement, which pre-dated the major digital retailers like iTunes, only referred to sales of the songs on physical formats like CDs, vinyl etc.
The beleaguered label have been forced to pay the band’s legal fees, believed to be around £45,000.
