Mumford & Sons – 'Sigh No More'

added 18 January 2010 at 08.15

Stirring, yet moving folk-indie from London...

Led by Marcus Mumford on vocals and drums, the "Sons" are Winston Marshall on vocals/banjo, Ben Lovett on vocals/keyboards and Ted Dwane on vocals/bass. With a fondness for vocal harmonising and traditional English music, Mumford emerged in 2008 from the nu-folk scene that spawned Noah And The Whale and Laura Marling.

Following two EPs in 2008 plus support slots with the likes of The Maccabees, the band signed to Island and worked on their debut album 'Sigh No More', which was released in October 2009. The lead single was 'Little Lion Man', which gained much airplay from Xfm as did the follow-up 'Winter Winds'.

  9. Mumford and Sons are possibly one of the best song writers i have heard, if not the best. There music is simply just of a different class to any others.

  10. You simply cannot get any better of a band than this. Better still, their English, from London (i think)! But still, i have never heard a band on the same level as these, and the cross-culture of Rock/Traditional/Irish is immense! QUITE GENIUS! Can't wait till their next album!
