La Roux – 'La Roux'

The flame-haired disco diva with a famous mum...
Formerly known as Automan, La Roux is centred around vocalist Elly Jackson and instrumentalist Ben Langmaid. The daughter of actress Trudie Goodwain aka June Ackland from TV's long running cop show 'The Bill', Elly gave the new synth-based outfit its name, based on French for "red-haired one".
After 'Quicksand' appeared on the super-cool 'Kitsune Maison' label, La Roux signed to Polydor in 2008, with their debut arriving in June 2009, making No 2 in the album charts while the single 'Bulletproof' hit the top spot the same month. A support slot on Lily Allen's tour, plus a date at that summer's iTunes festival gave La Roux more exposure. New material is expected later this year.
