New Kooks Album - Beck Influenced

Luke from the band has been giving Xfm the exclusive on their next release...

Speaking to Xfm Lead-Kook Luke gave us the latest on the follow-up to 'Konk' which came out in 2008.

Luke's admitted it's taken a while to reach sound of the finished album:

"well it's changed a few times to be honest. We've been in the studio many different time and gone backwards and forwards. It's quite different it's still going to be the smae kind of roots but we've been getting involved with using different instrumentation and things like that but it's still going to be Kooks."

The new album is expected to come out next summer.

And Luke says fans can expect a move away from their acoustic heavy indie sound:

"Personally I've always had a real thing of keeping it really organic but this album we're quite Beck influenced in a way, using loops - live drum takes but looping it - I've got quite obsessed with this David Lynch-y eerie synthesiser thing."

He was chatting to Xfm at the recording of the Cage Against the Machine track 4'33 in Soho yesterday (December 6).

Orbital, Scroobius Pip and Ou Est La Swimming Pool were all also involved in the recording - which will see 4 minute 33 seconds of ambient silenced released in a bid to get to Christmas number 1.
