M.I.A. Mocks Gaga’s Short “Journey”
Rapper rages at Gaga and Oprah.
Never one to shirk a fight, motormouth rapper M.I.A. has laid into Lady Gaga and Oprah Winfrey.
So that’s the current queen of supercaffeinated teen-pop and the all-time empress of talk-show telly in one rant.
M.I.A. was irked that Oprah was gushing all over Gaga at some recent charity shindig in New York, while coming over all snooty with Maya herself.
She told Time Out, “She [Oprah] made this huge speech at the ball praising Lady Gaga and about how she is helping Americans to be the best of themselves. There's millions of other Americans who represent that for me.”
M.I.A added: “Is [it] about numbers? About how much you're selling? Is it truly about the journey? Because her journey isn't that difficult: to go from the fucking Upper East Side to a fucking performing arts school and on to a stage at the [Metropolitan] museum. That journey's about four miles.”
