MGMT Admit Jay-Z Duet Blunder

added 18 March 2010 at 13.13

The Brooklyn duo messed with their track a little “too much” for Jigga.

MGMT’s much rumoured collaboration with Jay-Z on his album ‘Blueprint 3’ eventually came to nothing, the band told The O2 Evening Show With Steve Harris.

Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser told Steve Harris that Jay-Z was keen to collaborate, but that the duo ended up tinkering with their track a touch too much.

“[Jay-Z] sent us a track and he wanted us to work on it with him and we were really psyched about it. We made something, but we kinda changed it around, maybe too much, and it ended up not working out.

“He’s a good guy. We talked to him on speaker phone a couple of times.  He was eating chips, or something, but he was really nice”.
