Local Natives: "New Album Is A Slow Process"

The LA band are gradually working on their follow-up...

Local Natives have been telling Xfm that they're already writing songs for the follow-up to their debut album 'Gorilla Manor'... but it's taking its time.

"It's a very slow process because our band is so collaborative," vocalist Taylor Rice told Xfm at last weekend's Leeds Festival. "Let's say I bring a song to the table with a melody and a guitar part. It kind of changes... but all five of us will really get their hands onto the song and shape and mold it... and spin it different ways. We can take a really long time to take a song from that initial phase to complete. The benefit is that the song is something that none of us could have done on our own."

Although 'Gorilla Manor' was released over a year ago, Rice claims that playing the live circuit is still a challenge for the band. "We've been so busy, but songs are creeping their way in. I'm not bored of playing this record, as it's a new audience every time and it keeps it fresh with me. But we're really looking forward to getting on with the next album."
