Libertines ‘Announce’ Warm-Up Gig

Barat pledges festival warm-up, but leaves details blank.
The Libertines have announced a special warm-up gig before their forthcoming reunion festival appearances at Reading and Leeds. But, in true Libertines style, they haven’t actually confirmed the details – such as time and place – yet.
Speaking to the BBC, Carl Barat said, "It's always a bit last minute with The Libertines. If we did it any other way it wouldn't be The Libertines."
The promised warm-up gig will be their first public show since the acrimonious split back in 2004, when singer Pete Doherty’s chemical and legal problems opened fatal fault lines in the band.
They announced their reunion back in March in a press conference in a London pub, putting in a brief performance for the invited media, since when they haven’t played together.
Barat, who was talking at the opening of a photography exhibition in Camden, insisted they’ll be putting in some rehearsal time before the festival shows over August Bank Holiday weekend, where they’ll be second on the bill to Arcade Fire.
As to the future, Barat was non-committal: "We'll have to wait to see, hey?"
